Dr. Mei-yao Louis

Dr. Mei-yao Louis, DVM

Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Dr. Louis has lived and practiced in the Watertown area for 15 ˝ years, after practicing for a year in Wisconsin. Dr. Louis received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of Michigan and Master's in Zoology at the University of Minnesota - Duluth. She graduated in 1992 from the University Of Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine. After many years of experience doing mixed animal practice, and 3 1/2 years of small animal emergency work in Sioux Falls, Dr. Louis has decided to concentrate on small animals only. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, and in the future, plans more practice and research in the fields of pain management such as laser therapy and acupuncture, behavior, and physical therapy. Dr. Louis spent time on both the boards of the Bramble Park Zoological Society and Glacial Lakes Humane Society. Her parents were born in China and immigrated to the United States. She enjoys spending time with her three children: Joe, a senior at Watertown High School, Pete, an eighth grader at Watertown Middle School, and Sally, a third grader at Roosevelt Elementary School. They are the light of her life! Her pets include Susie, a 14 year old cat; Xiao Mao, a 6 year old cat; and Ernie, a 1 1/2 year old 3 legged cat (he has quite a story to tell!). There are 2 fish in her household, a huge goldfish and a 9 year old plecostomus. Cooking and baking are some of her favorite things to do. She loves to read and watch the birds at her feeder on her front porch. Ernie likes to bird watch, too, but for different reasons.
